The page asks nothing of us but truth – even the messy kind.
Hello and welcome! I’m Annika, an occupational therapist, coach, and someone who knows what it feels like to care deeply, carry too much, and hit a wall. More than once.
This blog is a space for stories; the kind you don’t always get to tell at work, or in the car, or while doing the dishes. Stories of burnout, of breakthroughs, of the quiet victories we rarely celebrate. Stories of learning how to hold space for yourself while holding so much for everyone else.
I’ve worked with people navigating some of life’s toughest chapters: parents processing a new diagnosis, professionals exhausted by the very jobs they once loved, and caregivers trying to stay afloat. I’ve also been the person scribbling in a journal after work, wondering how to keep giving without completely losing myself in the process.
My own story is shaped by personal experiences with burnout, overwhelm, and the emotional toll of showing up strong for too long. I learned (slowly and through many trials) that being strong isn’t always about pushing through. Sometimes it’s about pausing, softening, and saying, “This is too much. I need a different way.”
That’s where this blog comes in.
Here, I’ll be sharing my personal reflections,evidence-informed strategies, and creative prompts that blend science with softness. I will talk about emotional regulation, mindset, sensory regulation, boundaries, and burnout. Not from a place of theory alone, but from real, lived experience. You’ll find journal prompts, bite-sized neuroscience, mental health tools, and maybe a few sentences that feel like exhaling.
If you’re a caregiver, a professional, a highly sensitive person, or someone who’s quietly holding a lot – you belong here!
You don’t have to explain everything. You don’t have to be perfect.
Let the page hold it for now.
With gentle strength,
Annika
